We aim to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone who attends a Broad Bikez event. You can find our policies here, if you have any questions or concerns about Broad Bikez activities, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Risk assessments are in place for every event we hold. Broad Bikez staff are trained in First Aid and hold the relevant DBS certificates.
Our Safeguarding Policy shows that the welfare and protection of children and vulnerable adults are at the heart of our organisation's values and of paramount importance in all Broad Bikez activities.
Our Safeguarding Statement:
Broad Bikez has a duty of care to safeguard from harm all children and vulnerable adults that are involved in our activities.
A child is anyone under 18 years old and a vulnerable adult is described as a person aged 18 years or over who is in receipt of, or may be in need of, community care services by reason of mental or other disability, age or illness and who is or may be unable to take care of him or herself, or unable to protect him or herself against significant harm or exploitation.
This Policy serves to provide staff and volunteers, as well as children and young people and their families, with the overarching principles that guide our approach to child protection, focussing on prevention.
This Policy applies to all trustees, staff, volunteers and participants involved with Broad Bikez activities and events organised by any of its staff or volunteers. It promotes best practise and details how to respond once risk of abuse is suspected, identified or disclosed.
Through participation in Broad Bikez activities, children and vulnerable adults will gain valuable skills and experience in bike mechanics, bike maintenance and bike repair. Broad Bikez activities encourage children and vulnerable adults to cycle more and be independent cyclists with the practical skills to care for their bicycle. Cycling is not only beneficial for physical and mental wellbeing, but also promotes a greener lifestyle and supports the City of London’s climate and transportation goals.
This policy has been developed in accordance with the principles established by the Children
Acts 1989 and 2004; the Education Act 2002, and in line with government publications:
